Perch and Sink Asana

The delicious sensations accessed from receiving The Perch and Sink Technique is heaven;

Physical, emotional and otherwise heaven!
One of Perch and Sink’s claim to fame is how it focuses directly on the lowering of raised shoulders.
How valuable is that?
Extremely valuable!

Next to us this moment, perhaps a dear one is functioning under the influence of a merciless dictatorship called Hypertension. Raised shoulders is an indication of Hypertension and all its innumerable ‘goodies’ such as an inability to concentrate, negative projections, migraines or even a compromised postural alignment.
The Perch and Sink Technique wondrously eliminates Hypertension.

“Just like it is not possible to feel depressed emotionally when we place a gentle smile upon our face, so too, lowered shoulders defeats fear by initiating dissipation of anxiety and feebleness’s lack of heart.” Mukti

The Perch and Sink Technique improves spinal integrity and strength by prompting courage, determination and gravity from within ourself.
Our spirit-soul craves feeling powerful.
The Perch and Sink technique, when expertly delivered, assures this power.

So to skillfully deliver Perch and Sink and thrive on its benefits, here are a few more comments important to remark upon in order to accurately accomplish a satisfying, gratifying and fulfilling intention with the technique.

It is imperative to instruct the receiver to “sit up straight”.
Why is this instruction so important?
Because… aside from the fact that no one seems to be issuing this ESSENTIAL INSTRUCTION for the receiver to ‘sit up straight’, the assisted asana will predictably fail in frustration!
That is correct, not even in Thailand is this most primary and central coaching directive being issued to the receiver.
And subsequently what happens?
The receiver feels the compression and responds by surrendering and collapsing.
We don’t want the receiver to collapse.
Perch and Sink works best with the exact contrary to collapsing.
Perch and Sink wants to feel support and steadiness from the receiver’s spinal column.
A perfect example describing this would be a tree. The shoulders become the wide bough and branches and the spine becomes the trunk!
Support for the compression is what we want.
Ooooh I’m just feeling it now.

This Perch and Sink Assisted Asana Posture is royalty in the hierarchy of the hundreds of wonderful Yogic therapeutic offerings.  We want to offer it with the elegant finesse it deserves.

Continuing…
It is also imperative to never transmit even one molecule of forceful intention. The receiver’s bodily response to any forceful intention is additional and unnecessary tension.
The best recommendation to achieve satisfaction for both ourself and the receiver is to begin by simply resting our palms on top of the shoulders, with all ten digits including the thumbs, directed forward.
It cannot be emphasized enough to be very conscientious to replace our physical energetic and intentional transmission with a mental image of ease and graceful effectiveness generated from within.
We want to ignore the compulsion to forcefully compress the shoulders downward. We want to instead replace this compulsion to forcefully impose a compression with a conscientiously generated mental image of the asana in its full expression of therapeutic excellence. This is a marvelous tried and tested procedure. Do nothing but rest the hands on top of the shoulders.
Physical force issued at this point would be an annoyance and anything but the transmission of a mental image of love, understanding, care and support is counter-productive and majorly undesirable.
Of course, imperative also, is our posture as a giver. Incorrect posture as a giver would transmit insecurity and imbalance to the receiver, and again we would feel this as tedious and unnecessary.
As a giver, we do not want to hunch our back. Quite the contrary, our ideal posture is arching the back and slightly bending the knees assuming a bouncing stance. We position our hands over the tops of the receiver’s shoulders with all ten of our digits directed forward and draped casually.  It is most important to proceed with straight arms by ‘locking’ our elbows securely otherwise our focus becomes misdirected with bent elbows. To insure effectiveness and ease before applying intention, we want to position our shoulders precisely over our hands so that a perpendicular alignment with the ground results. This perpendicular alignment with the surface of the ground is a most vital aspect of this procedure in order to transmit the correct intention.
We want to ‘Perch’ ourselves comfortably upon the receiver’s shoulders like a bird!
We want to direct our energetic assurance downwards penetrating into the ground.
Instruct the receiver to respond to the downward pressure by ‘meeting the resistance’ by sitting up even straighter.
Instruct the receiver also to allow their head to ‘float upwards’ like a balloon.
The lucky receiver will positively attest that this ‘bracing’ of their body enhances the overall quality of the therapeutic effect. It feels great!
Finally, one would think that as part of the procedure the giver’s head would be bobbing up and down, higher and lower as we compress and re-compress again repositioning our hands to various locations on top of the receiver’s shoulders.
Yet, and this is very important, we want our heads to be moving forward and backwards as we rock on and rock off, not up and down. Remember this in order to experience the innocence and simplicity of this lovely asana.
The customary procedure is moving our craniums forwards and backwards as we rock on and off. Our cranium moving UPWARDS AND DOWNWARDS is ineffective and incorrect.

Raised shoulders and the fear emotion are interchangeable and self propagating perpetuations. They are family. And we don’t want that!
I have a personal vendetta against fear. As we all should.
Fear is an illusion and is being artificially imposed upon humans culturally, religiously, and environmentally by ominous and deliberate means.
Fear doesn’t exist in truth.
Families fraught with fear due to political and financial imbalance or sentimental religious dogma are the breeding grounds infecting our social environment.

Traditional Vedic Assisted Yoga procedures, when consummated as a loving, shamanic folk art, meant for family and friends, crushes fear and all its constituents and cultivates personal power and spiritual freedom!

Go ahead perch yourself right up there on my shoulders. I love it!
