Christy has studied with Mukti since 1999, practicing Thai-Yoga for 11 years as a companion to her Yoga Teaching and Personal Training practice. Christy has a joyful spirit and a true passion for sharing Thai-Yoga techniques with the world, and is excitedly planning many travels to teach both Thai-Yoga and Therapeutic Hatha Yoga in the coming years.
In 2008, Christy was certified as the second Vedic Conservatory Teacher, and later in the year became Mukti’s publications and marketing assistant. In addition to her yogic and bodyworking credentials, Christy holds a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art from Goucher College, and a Masters Degree in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore.
Christy helps maintain the VC website, designs our beautiful emails, helps Mukti edit his essays and teaching materials, designed and produced the 7-Day Course Manual, and has edited and updated Mukti’s earlier manuals in Thai Mat & Thai Table. She also takes many beautiful in-class photos and videos to help promote the Vedic Conservatory’s teaching work.
Christy taught Yoga full-time in Baltimore, MD for 8 years, logging over 4000 classroom hours in numerous studios, gyms, and universities, as well as running her own studio in 2004, and again in 2007-8. Christy has authored numerous curricula for Yoga courses, and produced a 4-DVD Yoga Home Practice Program, “Yoga: Space, Strength, and Surrender”. She now runs a Community Yoga program and a thriving private practice, works for Mukti, and travels the world teaching.
Christy is an unconventional teacher who is quite likely, by her very way of being, to teach you lessons beyond your expectations. She shines with the radiance of a deep personal Yoga practice that has literally transformed her from a stiff clutz with scoliosis to a fit dancer and acrobat. Her own therapeutic and rehabilitative journey has given her a deep technical study seemingly-beyond her years.
Christy is an insightful and knowledgeable teacher who excels in communication on many levels: demonstration, description, and hands-on assistance. She encourages Thai-Yoga Bodyworkers to learn to care for both their clients and themselves with mind/body awareness, proper body mechanics, supplemental yoga and movement exercises, and relaxation techniques.
